Well, I don't spend all my time doing mail art or drawing. I have myriad interests and it's hard sometimes to find a balance that allows me to satisfy most of them and still eventually complete something. (I live in the land of half-finished projects. Although less so than I used to in the past - that balance thing has been coming together in recent months.)
One of the other things I do is crochet.
My nonna taught me how when I was a kid. Her mother and her grandmother had both crocheted* huge and beautiful tablecloths and bedspreads from crochet cotton, but Nonna didn't have much patience for thread and tiny hooks. She much preferred making afghans and other cozy things from yarn. Over the years, I've found that I get the most enjoyment out of crocheting with thread. I think I'm just drawn to the delicacy of it. This is what I've been working on lately while watching tv. I prefer to have my hands busy while watching something - it makes watching tv or a movie feel like less of a waste of time.
And this is what I made it for - our fruit basket (which is sadly empty at the moment).
* By the way, that wikipedia article about crochet has an image of a gorgeous tablecloth here. That is just beautiful. I would love to make something like that one day.
