One thing I will say about the Every Day in May challenge is that it's getting me to get up in the morning and draw while I have my coffee. Usually I get up and aim my bleary eyes at my computer screen. Once the coffee starts kicking in and the haze is clearing, I start replying to things I've read (before coffee, comments range from nonsensical to downright wrong, so I wait till I'm caffeinated). For the last two mornings, though, as soon as I think I'm mostly awake, I start drawing.
Today's challenge was to draw a plug. Not the most exciting thing, but I figure there are a couple of prongs (no pun intended!) to these prompts. First, to really observe things, even the most basic ones. And second, to figure out how to make boring things at least a little interesting.
Our apartment was built a while ago (not sure exactly when), and has very few outlets that have 3 prongs, so we have to make the most of the ones that have them. Power strips are an absolute necessity.
A quick glance through the EDiM photostream tells me that I'm far from the only person to choose to draw a power strip, but hey, this is my power strip! Plugged into it are the external hard drive, the alarm clock, my computer, the printer/scanner, the other computer I was using while this one was in the shop, and ... I'm not sure what the other one is for. Not pictured: the tangle of cords these turn into shortly after leaving the borders of the drawing which prevents me from being able to follow the mystery one to its end very easily. Also not pictured: the dog hair that likes to collect around these cords. You're welcome.
