I like architecture. It's one of my favorite subjects to photograph, and when I draw, I often draw buildings. I realized something recently though, which is that I don't really enjoy architectural drawing - in other words, closely observed exact drawings of architecture. I tend to work on the larger shapes and sort of fudge the details to just give the general idea. (This fits in well with my personality overall - I'm not a detail person. I want the overview, some of the specifics, and then I've heard enough.)
So for this one, I got comfy on the couch and started drawing the neighbors' house, determined not to fudge. You can see how that went - I was bored by the roof pattern and the pattern at the bottom and didn't even finish them. Ugh, it's like torture. It was a good exercise in close observation, don't get me wrong, but I'm going back to just suggesting details from here on out.
