This adorable postcard turned up in my mailbox on Monday. It's from Angie & Snooky at IUOMA. I hadn't been paying attention, I guess, because I hadn't realized that Snooky was a Corgi. It's only my very favorite kind of dog. You might say I'm a little obsessed with them. So obviously, I loved this stamp! Thank you so much, Angie.
It actually makes me want to try my hand at carving a Corgi stamp. Maybe I'll put that on today's agenda....
Also received on Monday was a postcard from Belarus.
The sender wrote that there is a legend about the river that Minsk sits on, the Svislach. She said, "A very beautiful girl lived in the 16th century. Every day many suitors came to her but she denied everybody. Once a young, handsome but poor guy fell in love with her. For a long time he courted her, but she thought him unworthy. One day this guy saw her in the arms of an ugly but rich old man. He could not stand betrayal, and drowned her in the river. After that in the Svislach appeared a very beautiful mermaid which revenges men, luring them to the bottom of the river in the moon nights."
I love getting postcards that give me some info I'm not likely to read somewhere else about a place!
