Here is some more mail art I've sent out that has made it to the appropriate destinations.
I like combining some collage or photographic elements with some drawn ones. This little bird and his birdhouse flew off to an IUOMA member in Argentina.
Having all my raw material for artworks close at hand has made a real difference in the ease of doing collage work. I started with the bit of music, and then I ran across the photo of a tomb in the shape of a piano. Those got me thinking about the relationship between words like tempo and temporarily. From there it was just a short leap to cycle and cyclical. (By the way, I've found a couple of these books of words for spelling/dividing into syllables and they are an absolute wellspring of inspiration!) This collage went off to someone in Greece.
And finally, here are the front and back of a postcard I sent out to Minnesota.
Mixing words from various sources can be great fun to create a sort of story or poetry, but I also enjoy redacting words and creating a sort of dreamy, fill-in-the-blanks-yourself mood. Goodness knows I'm not much for poetry in general.
Well, that's it for now. I have some other things I've sent out that I'm really excited about, but I have to wait till they are received. I hate spoiling things if someone should happen along before they get to their mailbox!
