I've got a couple of mail art 365 items that I've sent out which will take a while to get to their destinations. International mail is pretty hit or miss, although most of Europe doesn't take more than a week, while Canada is anyone's guess.
But one piece has arrived at its destination.
Sometimes when I do these quick drawings, I have to admit that I look at them and wonder if the recipient is going to say, "Gee thanks, nice scribble." Over the course of my life, I've managed to mostly tell that internal voice to stuff it, but occasionally it gets through anyway.
The envelope:
It was fun sending this one out because Virginia and I were friends as kids and when I moved away, we exchanged letters for a while (you know how it is - the attention spans of 14-year-olds, and I've never been great for keeping in touch anyway). I used to draw on the envelopes then, too. Silly to realize that I'm doing the same thing all these years later, but now I call it art.
Just a reminder out there for anyone who might want a scribble or collage or whatever else I make of their very own: you, too, can have something other than a bill in your mailbox one day. Just get in touch with me (I'm st.ursula on gmail, or you can contact me on whatever social network you're on) and give me an address and I'll put you on the list.
